It's the 5th anniversary of PULL!
Thinking back on the 50 or so volumes of the event that has consumed so much of my thought processes over these years- I'm trying to wrack my brain and list a few of the amazing guest artists that come to mind:
DJs Jeff Samuel, Reynold, Daniel.fx, Adam Marshall, John Connell, Total Useful
Gold Panda
Urb (Sony Music Japan Future Jazz)
Apollo Choco Theatres many funky performances, esp. James Brown Tribute Night!
Blue 3!!!
...and loads I'm forgetting.
Our themed events:
HALLOWEEN
80's Night
90's Night
Brazil Night with Live Capoeira
Reggae Night
Papercraft Night!
Live T-Shirt making Night
"Cool Japan" Night with live Calligraphy
I could go on and on listing guests and so many more of the fun themed events we've had, but what I feel has most consistently defined PULL over 5 years is the local DJ, artist, photographer, and general child-at-heart day-dreamer who gives their time to make something special happen one night each month.
Our event is only ever as good as the people who take part in the process, be that
-planting a seed of suggestion ('You should do an 80's Night!')
-Cutting cardboard boxes into fun decoration days before the party or frantically hanging fabric and lights before the doors open
-Dropping by for an hour when you have to work early the next morning
...taking part in the collaborative process with so many special people has made this something I am proud of having been a part of for these 5 years.
Thank you all and here's to 5 more!
